History

The Rugby Colorado TRY Youth League is a developmental rugby program for boys ages 5-15 and girls ages 5 to juniors in high school The TRY League became an official part of Rugby Colorado in 2006, but does retain some autonomy to create its own rules and regulations. The TRY League is made up of Clubs, formerly known as Catchment areas, formed by individuals looking to enter single or multiple teams (sides) into competition. The most successful programs are those that involve more than a single person and have a lot of parent support. TRY plays 5 (u8s) & 7-a-side rugby, with amendments to the Laws of Rugby Union have been made specifically for TRY based on ongoing input and evaluation of the coaches, players and parents involved in TRY. The goal for every TRY Club is to be able to enter at least one team in every age and gender bracket. Some Clubs have achieved this, but many have not. Teams set their own start date for practice schedule & dues structure. League games; known as Jamborees are played on six consecutive Saturdays in May and June. The Jamborees are hosted by member clubs on a rotating basis.
